The WORX NITRO WX520L Battery Powered Circular Saw in our opinion is a versatile tool with its battery power allowing portable ability in the shop and field without the encumbrances of a power cord. This package contains the saw, a 20v battery, battery charger, 7.25 inch circular carbide tipped blade, and a hex wrench in the handle for assembling the blade into the saw. It also comes with a manual that in our estimation appears to be fairly well written, although all assembly directions are pictorial only, with none written. There is a separate manual for the battery/charger that discuss charging, technical data, and problem solving. The battery comes without power so it must be charged for 45 minutes to an hour prior to the initial use. This unit actually took over 2 hours to charge but did finally achieve a full charge. The unit comes packed in a soft sided carrying case with plenty of room for the saw and all included parts. To assemble the saw, the blade bolt and outer flange must be removed with the hex wrench. After removing the clear plastic covering of the blade, the blade can be slid into place, bolt and flange repositioned, and then the bolt tightened while holding down the spindle lock button. This design eliminates the need to find something to block the blade rotation. The blade is a tight fit going over the spindle end and into the blade guard, so care should be taken to not force it and prevent damage to the plastic guard. The spindle lock button tended to stick in the down position on this unit, so rotating the wrench back slightly was needed to release it and allow the blade to rotate properly. Changing the depth of cut was easily done by moving the depth locking lever. The angle of cut was similarly adjusted by loosening the front and back bevel lock knobs, tilting the base, and then retightening the knobs. The saw, in our test, cut flawlessly through pine 2x6 and even through 2-inch-thick white oak, without bogging down, scorching, or binding. The cuts were crisp and clean, with very sharp edges, in part thanks to the carbide tipped blade. The saw is, to us light weight, which reduces fatigue during use. Using a clamped edge guide gave a great straight edge without a problem. The only thing this saw does not include, but offers as an add-on, is a Dust chute. For storage, the bag does require the blade be removed. A harder bottom and pocket in the bag design would be helpful in keeping the blade in top shape and prevent possible damage to the saw that a loose blade could allow. Also, separate dividers would help in storage of the battery and charger, otherwise the original cardboard insert must be retained. However, the longevity of that cardboard is doubtful in our opinion.Overall, this is a very useful tool, especially on a worksite or where corded tools have issues, such as working with large sheet goods.
