This is my first mid drive build but not my first Electric bike build. I usually use hub motor conversion kits for my builds mainly it is easier for the end user to work on and improve upon. This is on a Huffy Escalate 26 inch mountain bike with a large 20 inch aluminum frame. The kit has some power and it kicks in rather quick on level 1 PAS. The LCD display is basic need to find more info on it apparently you have to go online to get instructions bummer for us old low tech folks who can still read books. The system is not as quiet as I am use to lots of chatter going on at the bottom bracket with it snatching the chain ( note to self get extra chain) when the system kicks in. only in the system top end PAS level 3 is the kit even close to impressive. Now let me be fair most of the test rides have been on flats no hills as of yet and everyone knows mids are for off road, hilly type riding kits. This kit is a 48 volt 500 watt Bafang mid drive powered by a 48 volt 14.5 ah 500 watt battery.At 500 watt you can use a planetary gear motor hub conversion kit rear wheel and over volt it to 48 volts and get smoother performance and much quieter. The range is yet to be tested. kind of reminds me of a tracked vehicle when it is running and forget pedaling around under your own power heavy resistance in pedals from motor pull I assume. I will update after further real world testing .I thought I was getting an ebike kit that included a battery but did not. I had to spend an additional $500.00for a battery. then when I got a battery and got it hooked it up, the damn thing doesn't work. I tried to return it for a refund, amazon won't stand behind it. so i guess i'm screwed. bottom line is do not buy this unless you have money to just throw away.Good quality and well made. You will need to buy a crank set removal tool kit as well which will make it easy to install. The kit works very well and provides more than enough assist.This is a fantastic product I wasn't sure about E-bikes this is the first I have done but this system is very easy to build. Lots of help on youtube and this unit is programmable with a cable available here on Amazon.
